Crossway Worship Volume 4 is the collective apex of the band's evolution as a writing and leading team. Songs are reminiscent of classic influences from the Beatles (Psalm 34) to Jimi Hendrix (Searching), some Grand Funk Railroad (Whatchusay & Can't Nobody), and a bit of the islands (Caribbean Praise). But if the word "Retro" just crossed your mind, forget it because song #4 is a burst of full-scale choral praise with a streetwise Rap mixed in (He Is Lord). And song #7 (Speak) has that captivating U2 sound too. Other tunes include pop, R&B, and contemporary gospel.

Over a decade from its first writings and presentation "Crossway Worship" (more than the band) has become an entity in itself. It is a style and origin of honest lyric, stirring melodies, and enjoyable grooves, from the perspective of less than perfect people in love with God. Despite popular definitions of what is or isn't worship music, Crossway Worship will always embody the Presence of God and His relationship with man. Through human eyes and holy revelation, our limited speech whether to Him, from Him, or about Him, presents an offering. Our lives poured out honestly before God and man is our true act of worship.

After two years of hard work and rework we finally threw out our first recordings for this fourth project because the songs had evolved so much from leading worship every Sunday and in community outreaches. But one day CWB found itself outside the small church studio where its 2nd & 3rd projects were recorded, and inside Cotton Row a legendary recording studio in Memphis, with some of the best engineers and producers in the area. Their magic and fresh pair of ears gave our producer/bassist, Vince Leffler, exactly what the project needed to fulfill his and worship leader Doug Simmers' vision for each song and the full project. Then mastering by the legendary Glen Meadows in Nashville was the icing on the cake. We are more excited about this project that we've been in years, because of its rich cultural blend and song selections. The sounds of celebration and joy are served "Memphis style" with plenty of blues, funk, rock and contemporary gospel, and some unexpected layers of rap and pop too. From awe and wonder to grief and despair, from questions to revelation, each song (or modern day psalm) in the four volume collection is a journal entry of the adventure and discovery of life and love, in the companionship of Christ. Crossway Worship Volume Four portrays a season of confident joy and celebration in God's constancy and undying mercy, which actively pursues each of us daily to bring wisdom, comfort, renewal, and strength.
